Ncaa College Football Week 11 Point Spread Picks Roundup

!±8± Ncaa College Football Week 11 Point Spread Picks Roundup

Well Ncaa College Football week 11 is in the books and we once again hammered the point spread as we went 9-2 Ats with our Week 11 Best Bets/Strong Plays. Our pro handicappers have been hot all season long and Saturday was the icing on the cake. Below are the 11 games we sent out to our subscribers and based on the feedback we have gotten, we made habitancy a great deal of money this week.

Rutgers (-19) Over Army: We began our week with this Friday game which we touted as Our Game Of The Year as it was clear to us that Rutgers would pound Army on the road. This game was forecast to be played in a very heavy rain and we banked on the fact that Rutgers would allow Rb Ray Rice to dominate the ball and run all over a small Army defensive front. That's exactly what occurred as Rutgers won going away.

As far as Saturday was concerned, this was the breakdown on our other 10 selections:

Florida (-6.5) Over South Carolina: Despite playing against their old coach, the Gators were not going to be denied here as they clearly had the talent edge against a weak Gamecocks offense and they used the motivational edge of playing to get into the Sec title game to gain the easy win.

Tulsa (pick) Over Houston: Wow what a route this was as Houston was never in this game. We believed Tulsa was a much better team than they were given reputation for due to their tendency to turn the ball over. Well they protected the ball here and they showed just how talented they are by scoring the biggest route on our lineup of selections.

Virginia Tech (-6) Over Florida State: This one made us nervous a bit as the Seminoles played well here as they hung tight well into the second half and showed that they could perhaps score the upset. any way the defensive edge that the Hokies had came to the surface in the fourth quarter as they scored two big turnovers and dominated from that point on.

Tennessee (pick) Over Arkansas: This was another key game on our docket as many felt the Razorbacks would win this one but we felt that the Volunteers would use the home crowd to their advantage and use their solid run defense to bottle up the great Arkansas running game. Thats exactly what happened and we scored a win that many felt was not going to happen.

Air Force (-3) Over Notre Dame: We have been going against Notre Dame all year and this was no dissimilar as the Irish truly are horrendous and should be bet against every week.

Mississippi State (+4.5) Over Alabama: Msu is another team that is underrated and they proved their worthiness by securing a home victory over a clearly overrated Alabama squad.

Ucla (+6) Over Arizona State: We liked the Bruins here after Asu saw their unbeaten season vanish last week against Oregon. There is all the time commonly a hangover after such a big defeat and thats exactly what occurred here as we picked up another great win.

Those games above were all winners and made our week a huge success. We have another two weeks of college football picks and we are definite we will gain some more wins for our subscribers. We lost only with Miami Florida (-3.5) and Southern Mississippi (-15.5) to go with the 9 wins above so to say we were hot is an understatement. Good luck to all going into the last two weeks of the year.

University of Missouri (MU) Tigers Football Player Taken in 2010 NFL Draft - 1 Mizzou Tiger Selected

!±8± University of Missouri (MU) Tigers Football Player Taken in 2010 NFL Draft - 1 Mizzou Tiger Selected

The University of Missouri (commonly referred to as MU or Mizzou) Tigers had one player taken in the 2010 NFL Draft that was held in New York City in April. The name of the lone player selected from the Columbia, Missouri based college is Sean Weatherspoon.

Weatherspoon was the first player selected by the Atlanta Falcons in the first round of the 2010 NFL Draft with the 19th overall pick. The Falcons are excited about adding a talented young linebacker to the heart of their defense.

Weatherspoon was born in December of 1987 in Greenville, South Carolina and long before he grew into a top tier professional football prospect at 6'1" and 239 pounds he excelled as a high school athlete in the rich prep football land of the state of Texas. The multi-talented Weatherspoon demonstrated himself to be a three sport star at Jasper High School in Jasper, Texas. Jasper is located near the Louisiana and Texas border on the east side of Texas.

In addition to being a college recruited linebacker in high school Sean played basketball and participated in track and field at Jasper High School. While best known for being an All-State football player Sean was an All-District performer as a guard on the basketball team and an All-State high jumper on the track team.

Despite being a dual threat as a contributor on both defense and offense as a wide receiver on the grid iron in high school Sean had to overcome the hurdle of being relatively undersized for his linebacker position as a high school athlete looking for top tier collegiate football recruiting attention. Despite eventually vaulting himself to becoming the second linebacker selected in the 2010 NFL Draft (behind only Rolando McClain from the University of Alabama who was taken by the Oakland Raiders with the number 8 pick) Weatherspoon had relatively few college football scholarship offers to choose from as a high school senior. Missouri ultimately won out over competing full ride scholarships from Iowa State University and Texas Christian University (TCU) amongst others.

After playing in every game at the University of Missouri as a true freshman in 2006 Sean had a breakout season his sophomore year in 2007 in which he earned first team All-Big 12 honors for his efforts. Sean eventually earned numerous accolades from various organizations as a second and third team All-American selection at his linebacker position.

Atlanta Falcons head coach Mike Smith is excited about bringing Sean Weatherspoon into his organization. Coach Smith believes Sean will compete for a starting linebacker position and also hopes to get him on the field as soon as possible by using him in special teams situations.

Improve Football Speed Immediately with Four Simple Drills

!±8± Improve Football Speed Immediately with Four Simple Drills

What is the best way to increase speed for football?

Improve acceleration!

This means getting to full speed in as little time as possible. Football requires short intense bursts of speed, and the most successful are those that can get to top speed quickly. Remember Barry Sanders? Not the fastest guy on the field but nobody accelerated better which is why he was so hard to bring down.

Teaching acceleration however can be tricky. It requires the athlete to apply more force into the ground during push-off to achieve a longer stride and cover more ground. Explaining this concept to any athlete, especially the younger ones, just gets them thinking too much. This is where simple hurdle drills can make it infinitely easier by making technique improvements more automatic.

The hurdles used for these drills are only 6 and 12 inches in height but spaced properly will force a greater stride length. Athletes should be instructed to push-off harder versus reaching to get over the hurdles. Proper spacing will also force the athlete to stay lower and get more forward lean to put the hips and legs at a greater mechanical advantage to push. It also forces a more powerful arm swing.

By adding a plyometric component to these drills, athletes will also learn how to land correctly. Just by timing them through the drills, they learn quickly how to land properly with good body control because it significantly improves their times. Landing hard with stiff legs will slow them down, versus a soft, quiet landing that results in greater acceleration and decreased times.

Here are four drills guaranteed to improve acceleration:

1) Hurdle Starts - these are ten yard sprints using 1 to 3 hurdles (6" height). Space the hurdles far enough apart that the athlete has push hard to get over each one. Use one hurdle initially to improve the first step and eliminate stutter stepping, then progress to three. Start from a standing position or from a three point.

2) 12" Hurdle Jump to Sprint over 2 hurdles - jump off two feet over a 12" hurdle, land on two and then accelerate over the next two hurdles for a total of 10 yards. Again, hurdles should be spaced progressively further apart to force more push off.

3) 12" Hurdle Jump to Sprint Laterally over 2 hurdles - same idea as #2, but move the hurdles to the side to force a cut then sprint. Start with the hurdles at a 45 degree angle to the 12" hurdles, progress to a 90 degree cut.

4) Single Leg Hurdle Hops to Sprint - set up three six inch hurdles equal distance apart. Hop over each hurdle using the same leg, then sprint 10 yards. Start by having the athlete stick the landing in a single leg squat position between the first two hurdles to force good landing technique. As they land over the third hurdle, immediately push off the landing leg into the sprint portion of the drill. Progress by speeding up the hops between the hurdles.

Tips for Success

Hurdles must be properly spaced to force the athlete to push harder. If too far apart they will try to reach to get over them. The difference between pushing and reaching is obvious to see for both the coach and the athlete. Do these drills by position or with kids of similar ability. Skill players tend to be faster off the line and can handle more spacing between the hurdles. The larger athletes tend to need less spacing, too much will cause stutter steps. Be creative. There are a number of ways to alter these drills to make them more challenging. Incorporate different jumps or change up the direction of the sprints. Have your lineman pull over them, throw to the receivers during the jump and then accelerate over the hurdles, etc. Just so you know it works, time the 10 yard dash without the hurdles. Add 3 hurdles properly spaced and run again. Times will drop immediately in most cases. Some kids will need a few reps to learn but all my athletes improve within three trials.
